It could be said all healthcare systems have an element of social control to them, but with the US healthcare system, this is taken to a disturbing level, sacrificing the quality of care for power, profit, entrenching a status quo, and for social control. This is not perpetrated by doctors, nurses, and support staff; but by a number of players done both consciously and unconsciously.

The forms of social control:

Exclusion

Blaming the victim

Delegating morality

Disavowal

Marginalization

Polarization

Coercion

Centralization
